What does the PWP in ThinkWise PWP mean?

Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner meaning

I often get asked what the pwp in my thinkwisepwp profile means and I realise that probably 99% of people have no idea what a pwp is.

I use it in the profile name because I'm very proud of it but I understand that it's probably pretty confusing or meaningless to others. I use it because I wanted to stand out in the world of therapists and not be just another counsellor or CBT therapist.

PWP stands for psychological wellbeing practitioner. It's what I'm qualified as.

Clear?

As mud, right?

Essentially, I use low intensity CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) interventions to help people with mild to moderate common mental health issues - social anxiety, separation anxiety, panic attacks, phobias, OCD, generalised anxiety and low mood.

For me, early intervention is vital, it can make such a huge difference to the quality of someone's life. Hence why I chose to do this work with children.

Low intensity means that it's brief and deals with the present issue without delving too deeply into the past. We work on the premise that it doesn't really matter how you got to where you are, it's more important to know how to move forward more positively.

I love what I do. I get to see real change in as little as 6 weeks and see people leave happy and well.
